When I gave my name, the wrong one was printed onto the cup. I became Grace for the day, and immediately the whole thing turned around.
For years on end, she walked into the store and, perusing the bed linens and decor, was drawn to the pinks, the flowers, the white ruffles. All things feminine and girly called to her, yet she refused to respond.
I was reminded by my buzzing buddy of the importance of “practice flights” and starting local. He didn’t give up when he didn’t make it past my palm. He kept going just a little further each time. It’s as if he was a little messenger, reminding me, “Test your gear. Test your wits. Test your abilities. Then soar.”
